Designed by proud Wurundjeri artist Alex Kerr, the Melbourne United 2024/25 Matthew Dellavedova Indigenous Jersey honours Wurundjeri culture and history. The central figure of Bunjil, the creator, symbolizes his importance to the Wurundjeri people. The design also pays tribute to William Barak, the last ngurungaeta (chief) of the Wurundjeri, by blending Barak’s artistic style with Alex’s to create the meeting place design along the jersey’s sides. This meeting place symbolizes unity between the Melbourne United community and the Wurundjeri people. The design also features Waa, the crow and protector, with feathers representing his role in watching over and ensuring safety on Wurundjeri country. This jersey, crafted from premium sports mesh, beautifully merges the team’s identity with Indigenous heritage, connecting past and present.
