Can You Wash Cricket Gloves?

Yes, we recommend giving your batting gloves a quick clean after every use. However, they cannot be washed in a washing machine, as this may damage them. Instead, use a soft bristle brush to remove dirt. You can also use a damp cloth with water to clean the exterior of any stains. Every month or so of frequent use, apply a leather conditioner to the exterior of the gloves to keep them supple.

For the interior of the glove, use a damp cloth to wipe any sweat away. We also suggest allowing your cricket batting gloves to air dry after every use before putting them into your bag. Choose Cricket Batting Gloves?

Batting gloves give your hands the much needed protection when facing down bowlers, and provide a better grip when holding your bat. When choosing a pair of cricket batting gloves, there are a few key considerations. First of all, choosing the right size should be your top priority. The right size gloves should have a bit of wiggle room at the end of the tips of the fingers, and not feel excessively tight anywhere.

Gloves also come in two types, square finger and sausage finger, with square finger offering slightly more flexibility, and sausage finger offering slightly more protection. You also need to know whether you are a right-handed or left-handed batter, as the thumb padding changes based on which is your more dominant hand. How to Soften Cricket Batting Gloves?

Being made from leather, it will take a few wears of your new cricket batting gloves for them to soften up and mould to your hands. However, the exterior of your batting gloves can also harden up when exposed to sweat. Using a leather conditioner on the exterior of your gloves every month or so of frequent use will help keep the leather supple and soft.

Can Cricket Gloves Be Repaired?

If your cricket batting gloves are damaged in any way, we recommend replacing them. The last thing you want is to be facing down a fast bowler and something happening to your gloves. Having confidence in your gear in turn gives you confidence at the crease. If the elastic or wrist straps on the gloves are weakening, there are holes in the gloves, the seams are loosening, or the exterior padding is damaged, it's time for a new pair.

Does Sweat Ruin Cricket Batting Gloves?

Yes, over time, the salt in your sweat will stiffen the leather of your cricket batting gloves, which then may crack and damage the leather. To help minimise the damage sweat can cause your cricket gloves, we recommend letting them air dry after every use before putting them away in your gear bag. Batting glove inner liners are also a good idea to wear, as they help absorb your hands' sweat and are much easier to clean. Many experienced cricketers will also buy two sets of batting gloves and rotate them between uses, allowing the recently used pair to air dry while the others are in use.
