Installation Nightmare

I bought this to mount on the wall, hoping to screen a bracket to the wall and attach the backboard. But no, you basically get a mechano set with the worst instructions ever and it’s actually impossible to assemble - I gave up in the end, and I have a DIY / Engineering background. The staff at Rebel Sport are super nice and helpful. But Spalding should be ashamed of themselves.

I purchased this as a Xmas present for my kids. After reading the product description I believed the universal mounting bracket was suitable for roof mounting, this was not the case. We now have to either purchase a specific roof mounting system or have a bracket made to fix the backboard to our roof.

Great ring with stupid instructions & zero support

Purchased the ring and the actual ring itself is fine. The instructions however are so poor they make IKEA look brilliant. There is one single page to explain how to affix the ring if mounting tit to a wall. The schematics are so small and crossing over each other that you can't comprehend them. Contacted Spalding support and was transferred to a third party installation company. Even they stated that the instructions are garbage. As well the instructions do not stipulate at what height to install the bracket. They do state what height the ring is be no details are provided about what height to install the bracket at to ensure the correct height is obtained. Overall the lack of support or logical instruction provided by Spalding is appalling. It would be easier to build a 2000 piece Lego set by looking at the front of the box than it is to install the hoop using the provided instructions.

With the built in bracket it is a complete system for wall mounting. Excellent quality and very sturdy. Needed two people to install. Worth the money.

Decent backboard, Very poor brackets - weak&flimsy

Backboard itself and the ring seem to be decent quality. The bracket/mounting system is appalling, very weak and flimsy. Bolts broke when trying to straighten board. Replaced bolts then bent bracket on next attempt. Paid good money to get complete setup with bracket mounting system, now have to invest more time and money to secure it properly as I am worried it will fall down on my kids

Backboard and Bracket Combo : Poor

We purchased 4 backboards for our disability Hub. When installing the supplied screws just flittered and/or snapped of when bolting them. the half circled bolts that rap around the pole does not stop the boards from twisting. We had to invest extra funds to purchase extra bolts and brackets to make them still. We had intended to purchase another 4 boards we will not following

TNT delivery nightmare!

Backboard of basketball was cracked. Unacceptable slow delivery from TNT was a tracking nightmare. Raised a complaint againt TNT to attempt to get a resolution to late delivery, corrected their incorrect information on more than 1 occasion etc etc. Hours of my valuable time and mutiple phone calls need to get this delivery back on track! System to affect a timely resultion is an absolute nightmare!

Wrong screws and bolts that didn’t match.

The mount system had different bolts and did not fit the basketball backboard. The plastic pieces had different holes to the board too so they could not be installed onto the board too.

The instructions on how to wall mount the bracket are almost useless and after hours of swearing, frustration 5 humans and 3 ladders, we finally got it up. Fine after that.

quality of the overall product was good but contains some fraud i.e. the holes in the black polyester that fits under the board does not fit the holes on the board at all. The user manual was extremely confusing as there are many ways to install.

Great hoop

Great hoop, backboard and hoop are easy to assemble although the instructions are incredibly difficult to read and understand instructions were talking about a wall mount that I would have to purchase separately but through my understanding this package included the wall mount, diagrams were a bit hard to understand but after watching a YouTube video we got it. This will see lots of use as I bought it for our youth group for some fun looks like a great hoop

Pole mount

I bought this one because it came with a pole mount wich is what I needed . The instructions were sub par at best just showing a drawing on how it looks assembled and not showing any steps to do it and what parts are involved . I put it all together how described in the picture and the way its designed the pole mount can move and touch the back of the backboard . Wich it did while we were putting it up on the pole and put a crack in the backboard before we even got to use it . Its now up and working but we have a brand new hoop with a crack in the backboard and it easily has a small amount of movement in the bracket so im constantly pushing one end up to level it back up . If you have an existing pole and want to use the pole mount included I would avoid this one Also I was told in the store this was a dual spring hoop and its only a single I was pretty dissapointed at what I got for how much it cost me

This an excellent backyard high quality backboard and makes for great playability. The included frame was easy enough to install and appears to be strong enough. I wouldn't believe it is strong enough to be hanging from it - but a handy person would be able to make a reinforced bracket if the kids are into gymnastic dunking. suggest purchasing the chain net in conjuction with this to make it 'cooler' for the kids.

TERRIBLE PRODUCT AND AFTER SALES SERVICE

Absolute rubbish product and even worse after sales support from Rebel/ Spalding. After the backboard breaking after a ball hit it after 8mths of use, we returned it to Rebel to be told we had to deal with Spalding direct. Spalding don't manage warranty claims - they have a random 3rd party organisation do that for them (who you cannot call - no one ever answers). After weeks of not hearing from them (over email)the warranty claim got approved and then after another 10 days the wrong size backboard got sent. Now we have to try and get a response.... incredibly frustating process. When you buy something from a retailer... you expect them to look after their customer. Not the case with Rebel. STAY AWAY FROM SPALDING.
