No Bluetooth to Phone

I bought the watch about 2 weeks ago. I was really excited to try it out. However, even after trying all troubleshooting options, the watch would not pair with my phone. I am very very disappointed!!!

I’ve had this about a month now and love everything it does. Owned a Fitbit before this and it does take getting use to using buttons instead of watch face but it’s great! I don’t see myself getting anything but garmin now.

Changed from a Vivoactive 4 to a Instinct 2 Solar

My wife and I both changed from a Vivoactive 4 to an Instinct 2 Solar. The Instinct 2 is definitely an upgrade in terms of tracking activity. The watch and the Garmin Connect software has much more details around sleep, running, and forecasting your readiness for future excercise. I would recommend the upgrade for those that have mastered the Vivoactive 4 and want to go deeper into what Garmin tracks. Also, my wife got the Instinct 2S, for her smaller wrist and that worked out well.

I made the switch

Before I using the Instinct Solar 2, I was a Fitbit guy. I’ve enjoyed the customization of the screen. The size of the 45mm allows me to view all the stats I need throughout the day and during my workouts. I’m a huge fan of the hot keys for my stop watch/timer. The AI is pretty neat too, but the quality of the watch is in the correct tracking of metrics.

Awesome Update

I bought this watch last month and have used it every day since. Like the original, its rugged, lightweight, and an amazing tracker. The upgrades to the battery and app connectivity are a huge plus. The screen customization is also a nice upgrade. One thing thats a bit annoying is that with the increased capability, the UI is getting slightly overwhelmed, but not enough to impede daily operation.

Out of the box setup was simple. Great piece to track your activity. Great adventure watch.

Bought this when the original instinct with no solar died on my immediately after a 12 hour race. Did not want to take the chance of that happening again and I have worn this one through a 24 hour race and it lasted the whole time with about 12 hours left on a full charge (using GPS).

An Amazing Watch

When I started using an apple watch several years ago, I was sure that I would never use another watch brand. I was wrong. This Garmin Instinct watch is amazing. It has so many features and I have only learned a few of them so far. I am especially pleased with the long battery life. (I was charging my Apple watch once a day and this Garmin watch charges for about a MONTH!

White color job during the week, working in the dirt and tinkering with cars on the weekend. This watch is a perfect match for my lifestyle.

Nice features, although…

Nice features although I wish it were a little better at interpreting strength training movements. Also wish it would synch offline activity later when phone app connection is established. I lost (or haven’t found yet) a 10-mile hike on my phone that was on my watch because there was no phone connection. I had to set my phone to airplane mode to conserve battery because I was using a phone hiking app for navigation.

Simple and Rugged

Even though it’s has so many features that may seem complicated to use, it is very easy to use. So though it may seem complex, the ease of its use is awesome, and great. And it can withstand a very good amount of abuse due to my lifestyle and job.

Doesn't do what I want it to do.

Doesn't do what I want it to do. I've been trying to get a watch that works with the surfr app to track my kite jumps and progression. Very annoying how spotty the functionality is. Wound up returning the item and will likely look to other brands. I'm more than annoyed with the issues.

Everything I need

I’ve had this watch for a little over a year now. I bought it primarily to use when I’m out adventuring. But since it has all these other features, such as tracking your sleep, I’ve been wearing it every day and all night for the whole year. It’s definitely led me to make some changes in my lifestyle to help improve my sleep and fitness. The only thing I would change is, I would buy the watch with the bigger face so I can read things more easily when they pop up on the screen. Otherwise I’m 100% satisfied with my purchase.

Great device for hiking and hunting

It has been a fantastic aid in tracking my hiking activity and hunting navigation. The only reason i didnt give it five stars is that it has so many features that i have been not able to use it to its full potential. This device would be great for an expert wanting to monitor their activities

Health Data

I purchased the Instinct 2 Solar to consolidate my health data and changed from a Fitbit. I couldn't be happier. I have added the Garmin BP cuff and scale and now have all my health data in one place thanks to Garmin!

Potential Yet Un-Discovered

I've had this watch for several weeks now and am still discovering features. So far I've added the Swim, Cycling and Walking activities to be tracked. It's a work in progress as I struggle to comprehend the data being tracked and how best to benefit from it. It syncs to my phone and allows for some deeper dive into the data. It's great if you like pouring over performance data. I've viewed a few videos on the watch operation which I think are helpful in appreciating the capabilities of the watch. The battery life has been impressive, and I can't wait to evaluate the solar impact.

This is my favorite Instinct

I had different two of the previous Instinct and this one pass them all out. Battery life is hands down better and day to day functionality is great. I basically relay on it for backpacking and interfacing with my inreach mini 2

Just what I needed

I have been using this watch for more than a month and it is working out nicely. I had been using an Apple watch which was nice, but it had a lot of drawbacks - poor battery, it’s display would constantly go dark and I had to fiddle with it just to see what time it was. Most important to me is that it wouldn’t give me a continuous readout on my heart rate, which I need due to cardiac rhythm problems I’ve had. All that is better with the Garmin. The battery on the Garmin is amazing, I can always look down & see the time, and the heart rate monitor is continuous. Also, the apple was not tolerant of vibration. Not good when you work in a woodshop all day. Plus I get all the other things that I had with the Apple watch like notifications. Also, it was less than half the price of the new Apple watch I was looking at. The only thing it doesn’t have is the pretty color display. No big deal to me. Overall I really like this watch.

My review

Had it for about 1 months. Nice features and able to change almost anything if desired. Definitely need to spend time studying as it is a not so intuitive set up, but very doable. Solar charging is over hyped by Garmin and offers little unless you park the watch in the sun and leave it for a few hours. But, overall, I like the watch alot and would buy it again.
