Both quite firm than I expected but it comes with an instruction that shows how to use and where to. There are so many ways to use it to ease muscle knot or to massage after exercising. I suffer from lower back pain often and use it to get to that spot.

Great to have the option of the softer or harder ball. The first self myofascial tool I've found that really get into my shoulders properly - spikey balls don't cut it. My shoulders feel amazing after I've spent a session rolling them out with these! Also use them for hammies while sitting at my desk, to get any deep niggly bits.

I would never say using these balls is comfortable because to get results you do have to put up with discomfort. The results are worth it as they really do relieve muscle soreness through trigger points.
