Alphafly - look great, feel good, a bit noisy ... still unsure if a wise purchase

The shoes look great. 5 short runs to date and they feel great. From run 1 though the right had shoe only has a squeak on every step. Going to give it a few more runs to check if this remains and gauge just how annoying / distracting it is. The shoes are slappy / noisy on the road but when in full stride the bounce and momentum feels good and not as noisy. By far the most expensive shoes I've bought and fairly happy in the first few runs, just hoping the squeaking stops.

My shoes squeak when walking after wearing during walking minutes at first use.. I haven’t worn them since..how do I fix that.. or do I just return them.. the shoes and the shoe bag was the only thing in the box at purchase.

PR on my half marathon

Are Nike Alphafly 3 shoes truly worth their price? Let me share my experience. At the start of August, I had a sore knee, but since my son wanted to participate in a race, I used KT Tape to support my knee and completed the half marathon of this race. Despite the knee discomfort, I noticed that the shoes seemed to enhance my speed. Remarkably, I achieved a 6:25/mi pace for a half marathon for the first time in 2024, using the Nike AF3 during the Catherine Creek Classic on August 3, 2024 (you can view more details on my Strava page -athlete# 59684519). The AF3s demonstrated exceptional performance and comfort throughout the race, even for my wider feet. The color options are impressive, especially the green and purple variants. Although the price is quite high and I've noticed the outsole wears out faster than other models I’ve used, I believe the performance justifies the cost. I wouldn't necessarily use the AF3 shoes as my daily running shoes but would be my go-to kicks for races.

The bottom of the shoe started falling apart after 2 short runs. I didn’t even get a marathon in them. Returning was pain. The last thing I have time for is going to the post office.

I have to say that these shoes are just phenomenal. I have pretty flat feet and even running several half marathons, many 5k and 10k races, my feet don’t feel any pain, they are safe, they are breathing and they look like new at the end of every run. These shoes are so light, beautiful, just don’t get them if you don’t like too many compliments 😜

I love racing in the VaporFly 1 and Alphafly Next% 1, this pair is the combination of both! The cushion is amazing, the upper feels supportive and the laces are great. I cannot find any issue’s with this shoe. They are surprisingly extremely light and don’t feel heavy bottom loaded at all. 10/10 shoe 💙

"peep" sound

I wore them when they arrived, and the left shoe makes a "peep" sound every time I walk. I'm going to return them. This isn't very pleasant. I'm so disappointed. It happened with a similar series before, and I had the same symptoms, but I was busy at the time, so I just threw them away.

Best Running Shoe Ever Made

This is by far the best running shoe I have ever owned! I have bad feet but I have never felt more support. With every step I take it feels like the shoe is assisting me ! I am very impressed. The bounce is incredible. I really liked the alphafly 2s but the 3s have me in love with the shoe. The shoe fits incredibly well. My feet feel amazing in these. The bounce these gave me on my run was 1st class. Amazing shoe !!

I have the 1st Vaporfly and the 1st Alphafly, but these Alphafly 3's are something else, something great !! I have moderately wide flat feet in a size 11 and I love the midsole cushion and width of these shoes, very comfy, roomy, and light. These are the best carbon-plated Super shoes I have ever used, having one sole with all the air pumps and foam is a great idea..it really pushes your foot forward and makes you wanna run faster. 10/10.

Classic Colorways

Love these shoes and the cushioning. Please though, the colorways. How about a nice dark navy blue version, either with a classic white stripe, or go wild, but I'd like something that looks at least 90% like I'm not trying to be a track star. I just want to run comfortably and not draw attention to my feet. Thank you.

One of the better distance shoes on the market. Similar feel to Endorphin Elite 1 but better upper. The shoe also looks a lot better in person than online. Glad I bought it.

Pros: Provides great support for sole. Great running shoes Con Not for ppl with wide feet as it can cause shin splints, and other running injuries. Cause the opposite affects for ppl with wide feet Too tight. I even bought a size bigger and it still squeezed my feet.

Great shoe, needs better colors

The alphafly 3 is the best running shoe I've used. It takes a little getting used to, for the first couple of miles it felt less bouncy/propulsive than the alphafly 2. But in a half marathon or marathon it really stood up. But why the colors?! Some of us just like normal shoe colors...

Great Forefoot Support

I hate running shoes mostly because I’m 6’3 215 lbs and a forefoot striker and I feel like most running shoes are designed for people who are 120 - 180 lbs who are heel and mid strikers. The end result of using running shoes for me is painful ailments like metatarsalgia and PF. I had to resort to low top basketball shoes for adequate forefoot support when jogging. I thought I’d try running shoes one more time and went with these top of the line shoes. I love them. They have awesome forefoot support for athletes who want to train by not running on their heels and mids. After all, an athlete on his heels is getting beat by an athlete on his forefoot so why would you want to train for athletics with a shoe that concentrates on heel support? If that sounds like you then these shoes are for you. I’ve only worn them a few times so we’ll see how they hold up over time.

I got these in the white and blue colorway at Chicago store 3 days ago. Have worn them for 2 of those days, and unfortunately the foam heel already ripped.

Alphafly 3

These are genuinely superb, straight out of the box. I find the fit is better than the last version, no heel slip at all. They’re very comfortable but most importantly they are very quick. I would suggest, from my purely unscientific perspective, that they’re the fastest shoe I’ve run in. I know they’re meant for longer distances but I think they’re spectacularly good for shorter runs too. The new white colour way is fabulous.

The best and only race day shoe

I’ve tried multiple other super shoe brands but choose the Alphafly as my race day shoe every time- easily the most responsive and most energy return out of any of the carbon plated shoes. I love the 3rd rendition of this shoe because it has far more stability than the previous models and removed some of the additional material around the arch and heel that could cause discomfort for some. Aside from racing, I’ll use these 1-2 times a week for speed workouts. Excited for the new color ways for marathon season!

Arch Issues Fixed; Maximum comfort and running economy!

I tried to get on the Alphafly train years ago with the first iteration and due to the shoes digging into my arches I had to return them. Fast-forward to the Alphafly 3 after hearing about how the arch issue was resolved, I decided to give them another try and I’m so glad I did! I just ran a 5k to test them out and these were the most comfortable shoes I’ve ever had and the easiest miles I’ve ever experienced (I kid you not)! I cannot wait to get back out on the road in these!

Alphafly3 is a downgrade from Alphafly2 :-(

Alphafly3 is a downgrade from Alphafly2 for me. After miles and miles of pain free running in the Alphafly2, my first pair of Alphafly3 injured me. Ran 30 minutes, had pain. Wore the shoes around the house for a week to break them in a bit more, used my Alphafly2 in the meantime (no pain). Then went for a 60 min run in the Alphafly3 and now I have ankle tendon pain that won't go away. NEVER had it before despite many miles of running in other Nikes. Fun times. Nike changed the profile of the Alpha3 shoes. Unsure how but it is not good for narrow feet, high arch people like me...
