Incredible Marathon Shoe

Fantastic shoe for marathon racing. Love the sock like fit and breathability of the upper, it hugs your foot and it feels locked down without being to tight. The combination of the Zoom Pods, Zoom X foam and Carbon plate is perfect - the shoe is super light, very cushioning and incredibly responsive especially when you are going for it on race day at your marathon goal pace. It's so good that my feet felt super comfortable the entire 26.2 miles and I basically forgot I was wearing shoes at all. Probably overkill for training but on race day these are 100% worth every dollar spent on them. I had a 5 minute marathon PR in these shoes and no doubt in my mind they helped!

Give it two runs to get your calves accustomed to the shoes but once you got that strength there it’s like you are flying. Worth the lyrics and nothing like any other shoe I’ve worn

Runners a must

Best running shoe I have ever owned. Purchased the yellow ones back in May 2024, these shoes are so good. I just purchased the black ones 1/2025. if you’re a runner get this shoe, but be aware of the squeaky sounds from the AirPods. Other than the sound, shoe has amazing for performance.

Had to return. I could hear them squeaking over my ear pods. My ankles on the alpha fly next % of the past gave great ankle support. These did not. I had to stop running after mile and walk back home to change into my old ones.

For some, not all

Tried on the shoes and the feel is amazing! After wearing them a couple days it became noticeable of soreness in my left foot. My feel tend to be on the flatter side so I chalked it up to that. Also, the squeaking sound that the shoes make every time you walk is a bit annoying. In the end, I reluctantly returned them. The price, IMO, does not reflect the quality on this shoe.

Extremely disappointed

Nike running shoes have been my favorite ever! I am extremely disappointed with aphafly 3. I have been running with them for about a month and I usually run only 3 times a week and they are literally destroyed. Nike team, what’s going???

Lives up to the hype!

I have run 5 marathons and have now used Alphaflys for each one. I used the Alphafly 3 for my latest NYC Marathon and can’t recommend them enough. They are light, durable and bouncy. They look incredible. In the past I have always gotten black toes, but I finally decided to go a half size up in this version and voila, no black toes. Will definitely be purchasing additional colors for future races.

Amazing shoes. Colourway is loud and beautiful. The response of the midsole is excellent and helps you keep the pace. I love it.

Take run to another level, BUT ….

These are great to run in, but for the price the soles need a major overhaul. Love them, but on my 4th pair and it’s not a great bargain on my wallet. I think I’ve purchased my last pair, while in the meantime I’ll go back to the Alpha 2s and may be try to milk some life out the 1s I have sitting in my garage.

Very good Running Sneaker

Nice running sneaker! The comfort is different than any other running sneaker I have experienced. Good overall feedback as it’s also very light. The only thing I can complain about is this is the most expensive Nike Sneaker I have bought and the quality could have been a bit better. The back part of the heel is coming apart from the body of the shoe a little on one of them just one week in.

They're great except they fall apart fast.

I love these sneakers! They're incredibly comfortable and definitely helped me run faster. Unfortunately, they just don't last more than about 25 miles. I have tried two pair and both of them began ripping apart at the seams and the soles ripped after just about 25 miles. Another major issue is that rocks easily get stuck in sole if you are running on sidewalks that have small rocks. If they lasted longer, I'd certainly be a huge fan.

Foam Split First Run

I bought a pair today. At the end of a light 6k run to test them, the foam near the heel split. It is very disappointing when you consider the cost of these trainers. I am now stuck with these trainers as Nike has no replacements in my size, which is disappointing. These trainers are definitely top performers, but you may want to consider their longevity, given their cost.

Dissapointed

I was initially excited about my new Nike shoes. They looked fantastic and felt great during my runs. The cushioning provided excellent support, and I loved the design. However, my excitement quickly turned into disappointment. After wearing them only four times and running less than 20 miles, I noticed that the glue on the back of the sole started coming off. This is incredibly frustrating, especially for a pair of shoes at this price point. Additionally, the toe box symmetry doesn’t match well, making the shoes look uneven and less appealing. I expected better craftsmanship from a brand like Nike. While they performed decently while running, I can’t overlook the quality issues I experienced so soon after purchase. I hope the company addresses these concerns because I genuinely wanted to love these shoes.

Great for marathon

To say these shoes are awesome is an understatement. I’m not a fast runner and these shoes felt great during my marathon even with unexpected hills. The only issue was a rock getting stuck on the bottom and the squeaking sounds, but couldn’t hear it as I was listening to music and gliding along. Used my normal Nike size.

Nice, except not designed for downhill

I specifically purchased the shoe for a half-marathon. Gave unbelievable support and performance on the flat road but going downhill was another story. I assume the built-in zoom air technology overcompensated for the slope because it applied alot of pressure on the toenail region during the elevation descent areas of the marathon.

Greatest shoes I have ever had!

I am absolutely in love with this pair! I got a PR in them, and I can see why. They’re incredibly comfortable and have a bouncy feel that makes every run more enjoyable. The color is fantastic, too—definitely stands out. I’ve been training for my first marathon in these shoes and can’t wait to cross the finish line with them on. Highly recommend to anyone looking for that extra boost in their performance!

Didn’t work out for me.

After months and months of trying to get my hands on a pair, I was finally able to. I had planned to use the AF3 for CIM this December. I took them out on a 24-mile run at about 9 min/mile so a little slow and steady. By mile 8 I felt the tight heel collar rubbing against my ankle bone, which ended up causing extreme discomfort for the rest of my run. Once I finished, my ankle was super sore and hurting. I used the AF1 for my first 4 marathons so I had really high hopes for these. Bummer they didn’t work out for me. I really wanted to love them.

I’ve set PRs in every race so far and getting faster. Save for race day, otherwise you’ll struggle getting 100 miles out of them. I have a couple pairs of them and won’t use anything else.

Durability and Design Issues

Pros: They have fixed this shoe from the Next 2’s. No more arch issues and very friendly from the moment you slip them on to run. I PR’d my half marathon time in these by 31 seconds per mile. Cons: I get some crowding in the toe box which leads to discomfort on runs. You know that pain on the outer edge of your foot? Almost like a cramp feeling you get when your shoes are too tight? I loosened these up so much that you can see visible slack in the laces but still get that pain. Let’s talk about durability. The heel separated from the foam on my second run - see photo. Wow. Only 12 miles and they’re already coming apart? I expected more durability from such an expensive shoe. Design - there is a slot under the toe box that is a magnet for small rocks. You have to stop and clear them out with your finger. When I was racing the half marathon, I rock had gotten stuck toward the second half the race. I felt it the entire time and was constantly thinking about it with every step. Since I was in PR territory I left it and tried to ignore it but design issues with your shoes are the last thing you want to get restricted from when you’re thresholding. Also, these are used on road running only - I’m not running on gravel. The rocks are normal asphalt rocks that appear from time to time on the road. Also, check out the sole wear at the toe only after 29 miles. The black tread is already smooth. What?! Are these a one-and-done race shoe? Overall: The AF 2’s were more durable and gave me an ever so slightly pop feel than these AF3’s. However, the AF2’s gave me the famous blisters and these AF3’s do not. It’s a give and take. I would definitely recommend this shoe but just know not to expect longevity from these. I’d be surprised if they didn’t completely fail at only 100 miles. Maybe it was a bad pair? The other foot had no issues with durability so take my review with a grain of salt. I returned this product which is a total bummer.

Best shoes in the business! Go half a size up though.

The shoes are exactly what a person needs to perform their upcoming marathon. The Nike Alphafly 3’s are extremely responsive and have the best energy return out of every stride compared to the competition. I would recommend to people making this investment to go a half size up. I am a true size 10 in Nike shoes (I generally run in the Nike Pegasus Line for reference), but the Alphafly’s in the Pink/Purple color-way at least do run smaller compared to most Nike models. I have tried on a pair of size 10.5 Alphafly and they fit more like a true to size 10 Nike running shoe. Overall, these are awesome shoes and are the best marathon shoes on market!

The Pros: Look amazing, Breathable, Very stable rear The Cons: 1) They Squeak! Every step you take sounds like a dog chewing on a squeak toy. 2) Insoles came glued in so you cannot remove them and replace them with custom orthotics 3) Very narrow footbed, I have an average width foot and these cuased numbness after only 6 miles

Got them on GOAT, but felt compelled to write a review because that’s how good they are. They’re super light, comfortable, and FAST. Make you want to run faster, awesome race shoe. Went half a size up to 11 from 10.5 based on some reviews, and that worked great

Tore immediately! Such cheap flimsy material and all round poorly made. Not worth it!

I purchased these for my wife and as soon as they arrived she tried them on in the living room. They were on her feet less than 2 mins and the right heel popped. Took a look and the right sole had torn and separated from the sponge in the heel. Such a cheap and poorly made product that is massively overpriced. Spend your money on something else

Alphafly - look great, feel good, a bit noisy ... still unsure if a wise purchase

The shoes look great. 5 short runs to date and they feel great. From run 1 though the right had shoe only has a squeak on every step. Going to give it a few more runs to check if this remains and gauge just how annoying / distracting it is. The shoes are slappy / noisy on the road but when in full stride the bounce and momentum feels good and not as noisy. By far the most expensive shoes I've bought and fairly happy in the first few runs, just hoping the squeaking stops.

PR on my half marathon

Are Nike Alphafly 3 shoes truly worth their price? Let me share my experience. At the start of August, I had a sore knee, but since my son wanted to participate in a race, I used KT Tape to support my knee and completed the half marathon of this race. Despite the knee discomfort, I noticed that the shoes seemed to enhance my speed. Remarkably, I achieved a 6:25/mi pace for a half marathon for the first time in 2024, using the Nike AF3 during the Catherine Creek Classic on August 3, 2024 (you can view more details on my Strava page -athlete# 59684519). The AF3s demonstrated exceptional performance and comfort throughout the race, even for my wider feet. The color options are impressive, especially the green and purple variants. Although the price is quite high and I've noticed the outsole wears out faster than other models I’ve used, I believe the performance justifies the cost. I wouldn't necessarily use the AF3 shoes as my daily running shoes but would be my go-to kicks for races.

I have to say that these shoes are just phenomenal. I have pretty flat feet and even running several half marathons, many 5k and 10k races, my feet don’t feel any pain, they are safe, they are breathing and they look like new at the end of every run. These shoes are so light, beautiful, just don’t get them if you don’t like too many compliments 😜
