Love this watch. Not a distraction like other smartwatches seem to be. The flashlight is way more useful than I thought it would be. It's the bigger version of the instinct 2 but it really doesn't feel that big.

The best work watch out there

I'm a wildland firefighter which means I work outside in rugged and remote areas and I don't always have reliable power sources to hook up to. I previously owned the instinct solar and decided to upgrade to the 2x solar. I am supper impressed with the battery life as I've only had to charge it once in the month and a half that I've had it. It's also super durable so I don't ever think about damaging it as it is almost indestructible. The fitness features also come in handy tracking my trends over time so I have a good idea of where my health is at. All in all I am really happy with my purchase and I will continue to purchase Garmin products.

Great Watch Overall

I have worn this watch every day for over a year now. I use it to track every workout, every sleep cycle, and I use it as a guide for my calorie expenditure for fitness tracking. This watch likely has more capabilities that I have to use it with an insanely comprehensive app. The built-in flashlight is also incredibly handy. I have two small issues with the watch: One is that it never maintains a constant connection with my iPhone, so things like weather tracking are not available unless I sync with the app constantly. Not a big issue because I can simply check my phone. The second is that not long after getting the watch, I noticed a small scratch on the glass. The watch was advertised to have incredible scratch-resistant glass, and I don't recall putting it through much of a beating, so this was a little disappointing. Nevertheless, it is a great tool for health tracking and everyday utility.

I can't imagine what else can I ask from it. I'm totally satisfied with its functions. Coming from the previous model (instinct solar), I now have even the small things I wished (custom faces, apps). And of course: I am in love with its battery!

Incredible watch!

This watch is amazing. I love how durable and water proof it is. I wore it down to Mexico for a week and everything from the GPS to the phone connectivity was very useful. It also helps a lot with work for time keeping and keeping my alerts close and handy at all time. The durability is something unheard of. I dropped a pallet of deer corn on my arm and while my arm hurt, the watch was scratch free.

Great watch with plenty of extras for hiking or hunting. Getting about 21-28 days of battery life with the solar panel. Haven't gotten to use everything yet, but with Connect app you can see everything from steps to calorie count.

Garmin - Instinct® 2X Solar Moss

Needed a rugged watch to replace my old GShock 6900. This watch will not disappoint with all of its included features. I was mainly looking for a watch to keep track of my runs/heartrate and this watch does the job with ease and accuracy. You can also pair it to your phone and sync it to the Garmin app which shows all the data recorded on the watch such as sleep/runs/heartrate/stress levels and a whole lot more! I also use it to control music from my phone that's connected to a wireless speaker which is very convenient. So far this watch has not let me down. The 2x Solar also has a built in flashlight (red or white) which is pretty bright and you can also set it up for it to come on as strobe light during an activity such as run so you can safely run when the sun is down if you run where there are a lot of cars passing. This watch has so many other cool features that I don't use but its always good to have for future situations. This watch has a little bit of a learning curve but with a little manual reading and hands on experience, this watch is simple to use.

Superior to Apple Watch

I got tired of charging my Apple watch daily and not getting the performance from the location/ activity tracking features. The Garmin is superior in every area that I care about and isn't weighed down by a bunch of nonsense apps that I don't need or want. And the red torch is so great in day-to-day and backcountry settings. Nice touch. Do yourself a favor and just get it already.

Somewhat Disappointing

I bought this watch after reading several reviews, looking forward to longer battery life and not having to charge it every week. In addition I want a durable watch easy to operate and see. I have already had to charge the watch. It went dead after a battery meter reading saying it had seven days of charge available Also disappointing is the manual buttons needed to operate the screen functions they are cumbersome and they are sensitive when trying to scroll through setup activities and modes. The screen is Black and White and has no color of touch face option. The worst part is it is difficult to read see the letters and numbers. You can transition the backgrounds from black to white this helps visibility some. Still the numbers and letters are too small & difficult to see during work outs. You have to stop and scroll back and forth when walking to see steps using bulky buttons. The watch also is not accurate when using during indoor stationary bike exercise it doubles mileage in comparison to my Garmin Edge. The Garmin cadence sensor wheel size has been calibrated for indoor cycling. This watch has many features and options. Some you will never use or need. You are limited to the Watch Faces that come on watch. Face Options using Garmin IQ are limited or unavailable for this watch. The pros are the flashlight it works well, a bright wide beam. Hopefully, this feature will last . The watch is also compatible with the Garmin Explore App. I’m looking forward to this. Compass and improved navigation features are great options and seem to work well. Improved sleep information and training features. I am considering returning the watch due to price, Solar performance and visual and operation limits. I keep it a while longer and try to adjust and set features and modes to improve of my issues with this watch.

Extremely rugged smart watch

I've used this watch (and the non-solar version) for about a year now, it's been taken surfing, diving, running, and has been put through intense work submerged in diesel and other industrial settings. I've never had an issue with the watch malfunctioning, and it has excellent battery life (27 days on a full charge). The only detractors are that the compass is not very accurate, and will move around while stationary. Additionally, the solar charge feature is not all it's cracked up to be - I spend significant amounts of time outdoors in Florida in direct sunlight and haven't noticed much of a difference in battery life vs. the non-solar version. Overall would recommend, I ended up getting this watch for my family members as gifts as well!

Almost a 5 star item

I had to return one already because the vibration from notifications brake something loose inside so it was making a really loud buzzing noise. They replaced it real quick which was great. The only other thing that bothers me is that I have to sync it to my phone every day, even though I don't turn off either device. It does everything I need it to though, so I would recommend it.

Love the watch, tells me everything I need and want to know. Use it for running, swimming, CrossFit workouts, walking. The solar lasts a long time, especially in the summer, have had the watch for a month and only charged it once. Watch is easy to use, so any age or ability level can get the most out of it. I'd recommend it to anyone. It is large on my wrist, but don't even realize it's there when I'm working out.

I have really liked this watch. No complaints at all. It has been really good for tracking bio markers and exercise. The geo navigation is not as good on this watch as some of the touch screen watches but I have still been happy with it.

Instinct 2x solar

This helps track my training. It's customizable to the activities I engage in, and it lets me save my performances, so I can monitor progress. The solar charging reduces the frequency of charging; I'm not sure it will charge the watch on its own, but it seems to slow battery discharge enough that I only have to charge it infrequently.

I have had this watch for 3 months now and have worn it every day since I bought it. The torch feature, while it may seem gimmicky is actually very useful especially when camping etc. The only issue that I have had with the watch is that the weather function is not super accurate compared to a Fenix or other watch but still gets the job done. Even though the weather isn't accurate it is still within a couple of degrees of the actual temperature.

Solid watch, not best.

I work in Law Enforcement, and loved this watch at the beginning. It has taken a beating and keeps on ticking. After about a year, the battery started to drain noticeably faster. I work outside in the Florida sun all day. The solar portion, which I feel like you pay extra for, appeared to do nothing to increase battery life. The watch is right at 3 years old, and now it turns off and needs a charge whenever it hits 65%. I understand it is not perfect, but the heart rate monitor was super accurate, until instartes to sweat or workout. Then, it was hit or miss if it was even close. I like the watch but thinking of upgrading, as the Instinct 2 is out, or possibly changing companies. I love Garmin, but I need more for this kind of money.

I work as a Wildland Firefighter so being able to have this level of information on my wrist in remote locations has greatly served me. I specifically bought the 2X Solar for the added battery life given the times when I am far from a charger which has proven invaluable. I would recommend this watch to any avid hiker, mountaineer, wildland firefighter, our outdoor enthusiast. If you don't find yourself in prolonged times in the bush then I would recommend the standard version instead.
