Disclaimer: this is my first smart watch purchase. The customization is great if anything, overwhelming. You can change anything. The step count, heart rate and sleep trackers are the standout winners for me. Workout tracking can be cumbersome at times. But screen, buttons and layout are all intuitive and well done.

I am really enjoying my garmin. The battery life is great and it lasts me days before I have to charge it. I like the customizability a lot. Having the music feature means I get to run without my phone. It does need to be “synced” to my phone pretty often in order to access all capabilities. I have noticed some inaccuracies with the sleep tracking.

Best running watch for women

This is my second forerunner – cannot recommend enough. Easy to set up, straightforward to use, lightweight and doesn’t hurt my wrist when wearing all day. Had to reach out to Garmin because I didn’t have a computer to do the update and they were quick to offer alternative options. Very happy!

Hard to figure it out.

Much more complicated than my Apple Watch. Instruction manual was microscopic. No way I could read the instructions. garmin connect and Garmin IQ are confusing. Utube videos helped a little but they tend to go really quickly. The 5 buttons on the watch are not well labeled. Almost sent it back.

I absolutely love this. I bought this as a gift for myself and it’s amazing. Fits great, very comfortable. I work in the postal service so it’s handling the hard beatings very well. I get to customize the screen any way I like.

Great watch with a great battery life. Seems to be accurate with distance tracking. Good for hiking, running, hunting, or even tracking your sleep. Just a good all around. Have yet to dislike a Garmin product.

Solid Runner's watch

I bought this watch as an upgrade from a Vivioactive 3. I was a little intimidated by all of the features, but after a few days of working with it, I fell in love with it. I like the "good morning" feature which gives me notes about my sleep and other data. It's light and not huge like the Fenix watches, which is important to me. It gives me all of the data I could ever want or need. The display is bright and very readable. If you are an avid 5k, 10k Saturday jogger who likes to listen to music while they exercise, this watch is for you

For the price, this watch reliably does a ton and the connected Garmin app is super easy to use for tracking and training.

The watch has great features and the music option is awesome. The built in workouts are nice to have and the functionality of a touchscreen on a forerunner is what was missing on previous models.

Battery life! But so much more!

I bought the Garmin forerunner 165 music because of my frustration with the major “fruit” brand I’ve been wearing having terrible battery life! I couldn’t even get through my last marathon with it!! So frustrating! Once I made the switch to my Garmin forerunner 165 music I have gone a week in between charging and that’s running while listening to music! Since switching I’ve also came to really like the other features as well. Like sleep scores and others.

I bought this a few weeks ago to replace my Apple Watch and I couldn’t be happier. This watch allows you to customize the face, as well as which stats are displayed at all times. Accurate gps for running, and helps you learn more about your health than you did before you owned it.

This watch is great but...

I’m a big fan of this watch, especially the 165 model. It has many great features, but I wish I could just get the 165 itself. As an Apple Music user, I was disappointed to learn that the 165 Music version doesn’t support Apple Music. I was willing to switch to the free version of Spotify and use it exclusively for running, but I can’t do that because I need a premium subscription to access music features. Garmin, please consider adding Apple Music to your app store so that users like me can use it seamlessly with our watches, or at least make it obvious, that your partnered music providers require a subscription to be used for your platform.

It’s not what I expected

The watch comes with a variety of impressive features that I appreciate; however, it lacks a crucial function that I require for my running routine: the ability to track my routes. When I press the start button to begin my run, the display remains on the same screen, and it does not accurately track my activities. This limitation has led to several miscalculations in my training, which is quite disappointing.

Brand new and lots of issues

Unfortunately, I purchased this 165 music forerunner to replace my older Forerunner -- but right out of the box i've had nothing but issues with it not working. Not syncing with blue tooth and a constant blue triangle popping for endless resets to get it working. I hope Garmin comes up with a solution soon. Until then - I'm heading back to my ancient Garmin. Bummer.

It is fashionable, functions very well. The music capability is a nice touch when you are running without your phone. The ability to track your run and have someone else know where you’re at as well is a very nice safety feature. The ability to improve your strides and contact time with the ground is very impressive, beyond that which an Apple watch can do. The battery life is also beyond that of other smart watches and very impressive. Would recommend

I had been using two watches last year and I finally ditched one this year. I love that I can sync my playlists to my garmin and I don't have to use my phone for music. Best decision on starting out with this Forerunner 165! The battery life is amazing! Using the music feature does drain it a little faster but it can still last days!

Great Price with Main Feature for Runner

After 6 months using Garmin products. From Fenix 8, epix 2 Pro, 265 , and now 165. I found 165 is really worthed for basic runner. For sure, it has less data compared to higher model, but, it is really enough. One thing that really missing is training readiness, since i use to be very happy with this feature, but.....i can predict my readiness using other metrics such as sleeping score etc. Lets us think about the price....., even without the feature that i mentioned, it is good saving for our wallet. yes ? yes absolutely. Do not forget to choose the music edition, since it has wifi. really usefull for sync process while you are not with your phone.
