Gui Finkler is one of Melbourne Victory's most consistent performers on the park each season and the star midfielder attributes this to keen management, both on and off the field.
One key feature of his game is his stamina, something he attributes to good rest management.
"Towards the end of the season, we just make sure that we've got adequate rest," Finkler said. "Every time you get an opportunity to rest, you do so, it's important for your body -it's been hammered all season."
The diminutive midfielder also recommends supplementing the workload with a healthy, nutritional eating plan.
"Food also plays a big part at this point of the season too," he said. "If you eat healthy, then you can perform well."
Finkler also revealed managing the changing style of training is a key facet of performing well throughout the season.
"We work mainly on our ball skills at the start of the season, whereas now we work more on our structure and getting our positions right in the game, and that's what we're working on at the moment," he said.
But what about those free kicks?
Despite his amazing accuracy rate with the dead ball, Finkler stresses the importance of managing to find equilibrium with training other attributes of your game.
"You have to find a balance, you don't get many opportunities in the game - maybe once every two or three games - but you do have to keep practicing," he said. "And if you get one in the back of the net, well, that's my job!"
