For a full back, Melbourne Storm flyer Cam Munster has a startling admission to make when it comes to keeping fit throughout the NRL season. "I don't really like running too often,"; Munster admits. "My usual exercise is in the gym.. so doing weights and leg weights that sort of thing."; However, the fullback maintains that Cardio is important, however he has his own way of maintaining his quota.
"If I really want to do some cardio though, I jump in the swimming pool and do a couple of laps.";
Munster likes to tinker with his fitness regime to alleviate stress and boredom.
"I usually try to change it up, I don't like to do the same thing every time,"; he says. "I guess it's a good thing to do a routine all the time, but I get bored of it - doing the same thing every time, so every season I try to change it up a bit.";
The adidas Ambassador believes he's one of the hardest workers behind the scenes as he looks to build up his strength and reputation as a solid defensive option.
"I don't mind doing the extras, so I don't mind thinking I'm one of the boys who's down there doing more of the extras,"; Munster admits. "It doesn't really show on my body, I'm not really a big lifter or anything like that, but I just try to keep the body nice and tight.";
Despite his hard work off the pitch, Munster believes there are at least more consummate professionals like Jesse Bromwich, who also work hard to maintain their fitness. "Just take a look, he's won two player of the years in the past two years, he does an incredible amount of work at the gym, working on his recovery. Also Billy Slater's an absolute professional as well - he's always taking ice baths, looking after those shoulders and knees.";
