While some AFL players prefer to have their days off to themselves, you can find one Richmond player working on his fitness in his downtime.
That player is Brandon Ellis, popular backman at Punt Road, who's never afraid to put in more hard yards.
"I like to do a bit of extra weights," Ellis admitted, "I also like to do Pilates outside the club."
Ellis prioritises knowing what his body needs, which is one of the prime reasons he took up Pilates.
"I do it because I know that's what my body needs as well, so I might do a bit of swimming as well. You gotta look after your body as best you can, cos it's what's going to get you through the next couple of years of footy," he said.
A lot of research went into the decision before Ellis took up Pilates, so he knew exactly how it could benefit his game.
"It's really good for my core strength, and it's just good how it lines your whole body up, and you feel stronger everywhere."
